Trooper Sorgen was on an emergency call when a vehicle failed to yield the right of way and pulled into his path. Sorgen jammed on the brakes forcing the wheels to lock and the seat lock mechanism failed, forcing the entire seat forward on impact with a bridge abutment. The injury was confined to the lower abdomen, an area not protected by his Second Chance® vest. According to his doctors, without the vest Sorgen would have also suffered a crushed chest, liver and spleen injuries, a combination which would have been fatal.
We welcome Trooper Steve Sorgen, SAVE #66, to The Safariland Group SAVES CLUB®.
