The departmental press release stated that Officer Felix was investigating a “burglary in progress” call when he was shot by the suspect. On arrival at the scene, Felix chased the suspect on foot. The suspect stopped running, turned and fired at the officer, striking Felix in the upper chest area. Felix, wearing a Second Chance® Level II concealable vest, was able to return fire striking his assailant in the mid-body and head. Felix was shot with a .38 round and was transported to the hospital where he was checked over and released.
