Butler and his partner were conducting a narcotic surveillance. As they approached a group of young males the group started to disperse. Butler followed the group as his partner went to retrieve their unit. As the partner reached the car, he heard gunshots and quickly drove back to where he left Butler. Butler had been shot in the upper chest protected by his Second Chance® 322Z-II armor. Butler said he had been shot but he was able to return fire striking his shooter. Four spent cartridges were found at the scene, two 9mms from Butler’s weapon and two .380 shells from his assailant’s weapon.
We welcome Officer Darwin Butler, SAVE #699, to The Safariland Group SAVES CLUB®.
