Officer Bella ws hit three times by a 9mm round each striking his body armor and each a potentially fatal shot. He took three other hits in his hand, tailbone and knee. Bella’s assailant had already shot and killed another officer and took the slain officer’s gun to attack Bella. Bella’s physician stated that his Second Chance® (SC229) level II vest saved him three times. Each 9mm round that hit Bella’s armor would have, in his opinion, killed him. The other three hits in his hand, tailbone and knee were serious but not fatal. Bella’s assailant had already shot and killed another officer with a .380 and took the other officer’s gun to attack Bella. When Bella first put on his new Second Chance® vest he thought it was too soft and comfortable to stop bullets. “Now I’m a believer,” says Bella.
