Brown and his partner were on patrol at around 10 p.m. when they noticed a subject brandish then conceal what they believed was a handgun weapon. The subject took off running as the patrol car came to a stop. Brown chased the subject on foot while his partner drove around the block to cut him off. As the subject entered an alley he turned to meet the officer with a 3″ .38 Special he had just pulled from his pocket. Two rounds hit Brown in his SUPERfeatherlite Second Chance® armor. Brown returned fire striking and mortally wounding his assailant.
