Officer Cooper received his DuPont Survivor’s Club Award for his act of heroism and survival during a 1983 house fire in which he was shot in the stomach. “My (Second Chance®) vest stopped the bullet, said Cooper. I just grabbed a small child and ran behind a car.” Cooper didn’t realize he had been shot until later that day when a friend asked him where he got the hole in his winter coat. No bullet was found. All that remained was a hole in his coat and a smudge on his Second Chance® ballistic panel where the bullet struck and fell to the ground at the shooting scene.
We welcome Officer James Cooper, SAVE #732, to The Safariland Group SAVES CLUB®.
