Gardner, a member of the Special Anti-Crime Task Force, was with his unit in responding to an intelligence report that individuals with high-powered guns were in the Content Avenue Gully area of Kingston. Gardner was wearing his newly issued Second Chance® Mon IIIA +P+ concealable body armor. As Gardner was searching the area, he came directly in contact with one of the armed men who immediately fired off several rounds from his 9mm semi-auto handgun. The first round struck Gardner in the right hand rendering it useless. As he fell back he felt another round strike his left chest side of his armor and as he rolled away another round struck him in the back right side of his armor. In response, left-handed, Gardner managed to fire off 15-rounds from his M16, mortally wounding his attacker. The other two men made good their escape during the firefight. Gardner was admitted, in stable condition, to the Kingston Public Hospital.
We welcome Officer Paul Lee Gardner, SAVE #740, to The Safariland Group SAVES CLUB®.
