S/A Gassett was one of two officers entering a house surrounded by police, in an attempt to serve a search warrant. Moving room to room, Gassett noticed some movement under a blanket. Gassett told two subjects to raise their hands and lay down on the floor. One subject did as he was told while the other shot at Gassett with a .38 handgun while still under the blanket. Gassett was struck in the chest, protected by his SUPERfeatherlite II Second Chance® armor. Gassett returned fire striking his attacker in the left knee, right thumb and left arm.
