Officer Jeff McFarland

Hancock County Sheriff’s Department Ellsworth ME Saves Club

McFarland was the first of three deputies to approach the apartment house of a suspected child molester, recently acknowledged on TV’s America’s Most Wanted program. While talking with the subject at the door, he suddenly turned and ran up the inside staircase. McFarland followed him in pursuit. As the subject was about to enter his apartment he turned to McFarland and placed a .22 magnum pistol to the officer’s chest and shot twice. McFarland’s Monarch IIA armor stopped the slugs in the pads. As McFarland fell to his knees from the impact, his two backups returned fire striking the perp in his lower stomach. McFarland was treated and released for his gunshot injuries.
