Responding to a “prowler” call, Officer Patrick and his partner tracked down the suspects in a neighborhood garage. When Patrick came around the front of the garage, a figure stepped from the shadows and sent a slug whizzing by the officer. As Patrick raised his revolver to return fire, another flash came out of the dark and hit him in the lower right chest area. Patrick shot back at the now fleeing suspect. It wasn’t until Officer Patrick removed his shirt that he realized he was wearing his Second Chance® vest. The .38 slug hit Patrick’s vest and left a bruise and an abrasion about the size of a dime.
