Sheriff Neil Miller wrote us the following: Deputy Hunt made a vehicle stop in rural Buffalo County. As he approached the vehicle, a male subject stepped out of the car and fired a .357 magnum round from his handgun, striking Hunt square in the chest. Hunt was knocked down by the impact but was able to struggle with the shooter when he approached for a second shot. IN the resulting struggle, the suspect was fatally shot with his own weapon. The shock of the impact on Hunt pushed his SC229 II into his chest breaking the skin and flesh but the bullet was found lodged in his Second Chance® armor.
