Officer Hughes was part of an undercover narcotics sting operation, and they were going to a house of suspected drug dealers. He was wearing civilian attire, but wore his Second Chance® Body Armor that was department issued. When Officer Hughes arrived at the house, a male subject approached him from the rear and patted him on the back. Hughes knew the subject had felt his body armor. The suspect produced a handgun and proceeded to shoot Officer Hughes in the buttocks and back. The real panel of his Second Chance® Body Armor stopped a potentially fatal bullet.
We welcome Officer Deon Hughes, SAVE #843, to The Safariland Group SAVES CLUB®.
