Corporal Goolsby and four other deputies were responding to a disturbance/shots fired call at 1:45 am. Goolsby and 2 other deputies encountered an adult male outside the residence being investigated. The male suspect confronted the deputies with a firearm, and then shot Corporal Goolsby twice with a 12 ga. shotgun, wounding him in the face and upper torso.Gooslby was rushed by ambulance to the nearest medical center and had to undergo surgery to remove at least 30 pellets from his face and upper torso, including one that injured his left eye.
