Officer Bateman was directing traffic when he was struck by a Ford club van traveling approximately 40 mph. Bateman was thrown 100 ft. and suffered a broken leg, sprained ankle and numerous abrasions. According to his commanding officer, “In my 40 years of law enforcement, I have seen numerous officers injured and/or killed because they didn’t wear their body armor. This is an excellent example of how Second Chance® armor can reduce injuries and save lives.”
