Cpl. Downing and another officer were on patrol shortly before 1am when they collided with an oncoming car. The driver of the other car was charged with driving under the influence.According to the attending physician, “Downing’s injuries were relatively minor despite the significant impact of the collision. His vest likely played a key role in protecting Officer Downing form more serious injury. Thank you for your commitment to designing protective equipment for the people who risk their lives to protect mine.”
