On Valentines Day, 1976, Officer Richard Weldon was feeling anything but love. While he and his partner responded to a disturbance call between a husband and a wife, the husband came at Weldon with a 7 inch butcher knife. When Weldon made an attempt to stop the man, the man turned to Weldon and struck him directly in the solar plexes. The extent of his injuries were minor except for a torn shirt, thanks to his Second Chance® vest he was wearing at the time.
