Deputy Pratz was responding to an injury accident with red lights and siren activated. He stopped at a busy intersection to allow all through traffic to stop and yield. He then proceeded to turn left and in the middle of the intersection, a driver speeding down the left turn lane of the road he was entering surprised him. He saw only a glimpse, and then woke up in the hospital. A 1997 Ford SUV driven by a 32-year-old mother with her 7-year-old daughter and 34-year-old sister struck his vehicle on the driver’s door. None of the people in the SUV were seriously injured.Pratz suffered head injuries and was knocked unconscious. He was transported to the hospital and according to Pratz’s physician, his Second Chance® armor prevented Pratz from sustaining great bodily harm.
