Deputy Gray was responding to a call in reference to a hit and run accident. When he made contact with the suspect at his home he was shot by the suspect in the back with a Ruger “Super Redhawk” .44 magnum from a distance of about 5 feet. The bullet was a 240-280 grain jacket hollow point. Gray suffered extensive bruising on his back from the impact of the bullet, but thankfully, his Second Chance® armor held the bullet. “I was thinking about my family, and I was thanking God he saved my life and thanking God I had my bulletproof vest on.”
We welcome Deputy Matt Gray, SAVE #911, to The Safariland Group SAVES CLUB®.
