Officer Morse was shot on his Second Chance® vest while trying to track down the driver of a stolen SUV. A high speed chase ended when the driver of the SUV, which was traveling without headlights, drove into a ditch, got out and began shooting at the officers that were trying to apprehend him. Morse was shot on his vest, and 2 other officers were wounded as well. The suspect was eventually apprehended and taken into custody.
