Officer Arnett responded to an attempted stolen vehicle call at a used car lot. When he arrived, he immediately observed a male subject matching the description of the suspect.Arnett and his partner drove towards the suspect and exited their patrol car and followed on foot. Arnette caught up to the suspect at a chain linked fence and tried to grab the suspect to prevent him from climbing the fence. The suspect quickly turned around and stabbed Officer Arnett with a 4″ folding knife. The knife went into the left side of his Second Chance® ULTIMA armor.His vest prevented the knife from penetrating. Arnett was then able to deploy his service weapon and fire two rounds which hit the suspect and eliminated the threat. According to his Commanding officer, “Arnett’s vest not only SAVED his life, but protected his partner’s life by allowing him to respond.”
