EMT Jack Cook

Edmonton Emergency Response Department Edmonton AB Saves Club

Jack and his partner were working in an ambulance responding to a man down/unconscious on the side of the road. Jack was riding in the passenger’s seat. They were going through an intersection and were hit on the passenger’s side door by a 1/2 ton truck. Jack was thrown against the inside of the passenger door. Cook was able to climb out of the ambulance and find the Trauma kit and walked 300 yards to where the patient was. He was able to look after his patient until the Police, Fire/Rescue and EMS responders arrived. His only injury was to his right shoulder which was outside the protection of his Second Chance® Armor. According to his physician, Cook’s injuries would have been substantially more serious had he not been weraing his Second Chance® armor.
