Lt. Clifton Worley and a fellow deputy were dispatched to a scene in which gunshots had been reported. After arriving to the scene they discovered an armed subject with a .40 caliber pistol. The suspect was threating to kill himself and saying he was going to another residence where there were children, Worley and his deputies decided this couldn’t happen and knew they had to disarm the subject. One deputy tried to wrestle the weapon from the subject. After a chaotic struggle the subject fired a shot and in turn Worley’s partner attempted to fire back but hit lt. Worley instead; his bulletproof vest saved his life. The subject was incarcerated and was charged with two counts of attempted first-degree murder.
