Sgt. Lawrence, while on the firing range of the US Marine training facility, took a hit from an M-16 in his Model Y Second Chance® Vest. The distance from muzzle to vest was about 18 inches; the angle was about 30 degrees. The accidental shooting from a propositioned recruit had the slug enter from left to right, blowing off the uniform buttons as it deflected off the vest. Off to the stockade went the recruit and off to sickbay went Lawrence. Lawrence’s chest area developed some soreness but subsided “after a few hours.”
