Hudson County Jail Kearny NJ Saves Club

On the night of March 6. 2003 corrections officer, Patrick Carbone was on duty working the watch tower at Hudson County Correctional Facility it began to rain, then the rain turned to freezing rain. Carbone’s relief showed up, he opened the hatch door to the tower and took two steps down the stairs when he slipped on the ice covered stairs and fell 25 feet strait to the ground. Officer Carbone was transported to the hospital via ambulance, code blue trauma and was going into shock. After under going emergency surgery the officer was released 5 days later. Upon discharge from the hospital, Carbone has taken part in much months of physical therapy. Yet, according to his doctor, Carbone’s Second Chance® vest kept him from possible paralization and potential death.
