Officer Hooter was hit in the left upper back shoulder as he responded to a disturbance call and was saved by his Second Chance® vest. Upon arrival, the officer exited the police vehicle and proceeded to the residence. While approaching the front door the officers were ambushed by the perpetrator who shot both officers. One of the officers was able to return fire and kill the perpetrator. Hooter was hospitalized for facial wounds from the second shot.
