On June 27, 2021, Trooper David Rose was attempting to place a suspect under arrest when the suspect produced a 12-inch bladed knife from the rear of his waistband. With the knife firmly grasped in his right hand, the suspect stabbed Trooper Rose in the left side of his chest. Trooper Rose’s Safariland® SX® Level II armor stopped the blade from penetrating into his chest. Trooper Rose was able to stay in the fight and take the suspect into custody. Trooper Rose was treated and released and is back on full duty.
