On December 21, 2018, Trooper John Davis was stopped at the scene of a crash where two vehicles had slid off the roadway in the northbound lane of I-95 in New Gloucester. Trooper Davis had the emergency lights of his Explorer activated.
A tractor-trailer traveling northbound lost control of his vehicle and struck the rear of Trooper Davis’s patrol vehicle. The impact was so severe it spun the patrol vehicle and crashed it into the guardrail. Trooper Davis’s vehicle finally came to rest on its side. Trooper Davis was trapped in the vehicle and required extrication by medical personnel. He was hospitalized with multiple injuries including broken ribs and a punctured lung, but his Safariland® Summit® SM01.1 armor protected his torso from more severe injuries.
Trooper Davis has recovered from his injuries and returned to duty with the Maine State Police.
We welcome Trooper John Davis, SAVE #2071, to The Safariland Group SAVES CLUB®.
