Smith & Wesson has expanded the Model 1854 series, first introduced at the 2024 SHOT Show, with two new models chambered in the iconic 45 Colt cartridge. These additions retain the robust features and modern improvements of their .44 Magnum counterparts, making them versatile for hunting, home defense, and more.

A New Caliber Offering

Originally introduced with the .44 Rem Mag, the Model 1854 series now includes the classic 45 Colt cartridge. This lever-action rifle blends the traditional aesthetic of the American lever gun with modern enhancements.

Award-Winning Design

The Model 1854 series recently received the 2024 Editor’s Choice Best All-Around Rifle from Outdoor Life. These rifles offer stylish and functional options, available in both synthetic black polymer and stainless-steel finish, as well as a walnut furniture combination with Armornite finish.

The Smith & Wesson Model 1854 Series offers a seamless blend of heritage and innovation. It includes a Picatinny rail for mounting optics, making it a versatile choice for both traditional and modern shooters.

Key Features

  • Trigger and Safety: Single-action trigger, cross-bolt manual safety, and external hammer with a half-cock position.
  • Receiver and Barrel: 416 stainless steel receiver with a right-side ejection port and top MIL-STD 1913 Picatinny rail for optics. The 19.25″ barrel is made of 410 stainless steel with an 11/16-24″ thread for suppressors or other accessories.
  • Sights: Bead front sight and XS Sights peep rear sight.
  • Handling: Large loop charging handle and flat-face trigger.
  • Magazine: Holds up to nine rounds of .45 Colt ammunition with a removable tube for easy cleaning and maintenance.
  • Furniture: “Traditional” model features walnut furniture with slip-proof textures on the grip panels. The stainless model includes two M-LOK slots on the handguard for modern accessories.
  • Barrel Specs: 1:20″ twist rate, 8-groove rifling.
  • Optics Mounting: Top Picatinny rail is easily removed and replaced with mounts compatible with Marlin 1894 hole patterns.
