H&K CC9: Heckler & Koch Goes for a Micro Compact

James Maybrick

Heckler & Koch tends to be on the cutting edge of the latest technology and market trends, but they’ve lagged in the emerging market of micro-compact 9mm pistols that have hit the shelves in the last seven years. That just changed. New for 2024 is the H&K CC9, their first go at a micro-compact, and one that just might be the best of the bunch.

While far from the first micro compact 9mm on the market, the H&K CC9 promises to be the most overbuilt. The CC9 was developed over the course of 750,000 rounds fired during R&D for maximum durability and relief of any ergonomic issues that plague other pistols of its type.

The polymer frame is reinforced with a modular chassis fire control system that is rated for continuous use of +P ammunition. The frame also has the same length of pull from the backstrap to the trigger and the same four-fingered grip as the H&K VP9. This allows the user to control and handle the CC9 like a full-sized handgun, but with a grip frame and slide made slim for carry — just beefy enough to take flush-fitting 10 or 12-round magazines.

H&K CC9 Quick Specs

  • Caliber: 9mm Luger
  • Capacity: 10-12
  • Barrel Length: 3.3 inches
  • Overall Length: 6.0 inches
  • Height: 4.6 inches
  • Slide Width: .99 inch
  • Weight: 18.4 oz. (unloaded)

The H&K CC9 features forward and rearward cocking serrations on the slide and has a tritium front sight paired with a steel rear notch. However, the CC9 is compatible with RMSc/Holosun 407K footprint optics.

The frame features a shortened Picatinny rail for a small weapon light and has a slide release and magazine that is ambidextrous for hassle-free use by left-handed and right-handed shooters alike. The new CC9 is now shipping and has an MSRP of $699.
