Derya Arms DY9: CADRE NEWS

Cory Ross

In 2025, there are more firearm brands than ever before. When I started in this business back in 2012, the market hadn’t yet been flooded with affordable brands from places like Turkey. So, when Derya Arms released the new DY9 Comp, I, honestly, had never heard of the company. So, I did some research.

Derya Arms was established in 2018 in the Beysehir region of Turkey. Over time, their production capacity continued to grow. Today, the company occupies a 250,000-square-foot facility in Beysehir, with an additional 250,000-square-foot expansion currently underway in Konya.

In 2024, Derya expanded into the United States with a manufacturing and branding operation in Jacksonville, Florida. Today, Derya is Turkey’s largest shotgun manufacturer and the second-largest small arms producer. They export to over 65 countries. (All this information is from Derya’s about us page.)

FEATURES

Like most modern pistols, this one is chambered in 9mm and has a threaded stainless-steel barrel equipped with a “precision-engineered compensator.” According to Derya, this setup effectively minimizes muzzle rise and recoil by directing gases upward, enabling ultra-flat shooting, quick follow-up shots, and exceptional control in high-pressure situations.

Sounds good, right? Of course, you can remove the comp and run a suppressor if you like (presumably, the threading is 1/2×28, but that isn’t specified). It is also optic-ready, making the installation of a red dot sight simple. Designed for versatility, this compact firearm is ideal for concealed carry, home defense, or target shooting at the range.

In addition to the optic cut, it features fixed sights, interchangeable backstraps, and a black Melonite finish. Oh, and it takes Glock mags. Interestingly, this pistol is made in Derya’s United States facility in Jacksonville, Florida.

Zooming Out

When comparing price and feature set, the Derya DY-9 Comp checks a lot of boxes. When thinking of the top features for modern pistols, this one nearly has them all. And if the compensated model isn’t what you are after, Derya offers a standard and an island-ported model as well.
