I’ll admit, I’m a bit of an H&K fan boy. I know, I know, slanderous, but it’s the truth. I have several H&K pistols, and I enjoy them all, including a VP9 Match.
Over the last year, H&K has updated the VP9 to the VP9A1. The upgrades include an optics-ready slide, a finger-grooveless grip, a flared magwell, extended controls, and deeper slide serrations. Really, these are updates to keep the pistol current with trends.
Now H&K has added a new model to the VP9 lineup, the VP9A1 X.

The VP9A1 X includes all the A1 updates from the earlier-launched VP9A1 and features a size that comfortably fits between the compact “K” model and the full-sized “F” model. HK’s VP9 has built its reputation by enhancing the skills of actual shooters. Agencies have reported qualification scores rising soon after the pistol was introduced, not due to gimmicks, but because the gun feels natural in the hand.
