The STR-9 series of pistols from Stoeger debuted at SHOT Show 2019. Since then, the product line has expanded to 13 models with various sizes and features. New for 2026, Stoeger is introducing the STR-series in a combat version in 45 ACP with the STR-45 Combat.

Built on the proven ergonomics of the STR, the STR-45 Combat provides a familiar feel while adding improvements.
The high-traction grip and undercut trigger guard work together to keep the hand in place (especially on a 45 ACP), giving the shooter the kind of control that makes fast, repeatable follow-up shots feel natural. With interchangeable small, medium, and large backstraps, adjusting the fit is easy.
The full-length frame sits flush with the slide, offering plenty of space for a tactical light or laser, while the enlarged magwell discreetly speeds up reloads when seconds count.
Up top, suppressor-height fiber-optic sights team with a fully adjustable rear sight, and the optic-ready slide includes four mounting plates for popular footprints. Capacity is increased with three included 16-round magazines, providing a 16+1 loadout. A 5.18-inch, .578×28 threaded barrel allows the .45 ACP to perform at its best, with a suppressor-ready design and thread protector included.
ZOOMING OUT
The STR-45 Combat is a well-designed and solid fighting pistol. Priced at an MSRP of $649, it seems to offer good value. It’s rare for a company to release a new 45 ACP pistol, let alone one with these features. It’s refreshing to see, especially in a world dominated by 9mm.
