One of my favorite handgun designs of the 20th Century is the Browning Hi-Power. To me, it’s the best 9mm ever made. It’s hard to argue with that, given the many reproductions of this famous pistol available today.
One of the top replicas is the Springfield Armory SA-35, a tribute to the original P-35. Although the SA-35 has been around for several years and honors the original, Springfield has updated it. One of the newest versions is the SA-35 with a 4-inch barrel.

FEATURES
Springfield Armory has expanded its popular Hi-Power-inspired lineup with the launch of the SA-35 4″ 9mm, offering a more compact version of the company’s modernized take on the classic P-35 design.
Built in the United States, the pistol keeps the classic “wood and steel” appeal of the original SA-35 while shortening the platform with a 4-inch barrel. Like its full-size version, the pistol features durable forged steel components for the slide, frame, and barrel, ensuring toughness while preserving the traditional feel that enthusiasts appreciate.
The barrel also features an improved feed ramp design to improve reliability with modern defensive ammunition. Springfield Armory rounds out the package with practical upgrades, including a recontoured hammer to reduce the risk of “hammer bite” and an extended thumb safety for easier operation.
The sights feature an upgraded white-dot front sight paired with a Tactical Rack black serrated rear sight. A flush-fitting 15-round magazine feeds through a beveled magazine well, while a matte-blue finish and checkered walnut grips complete the pistol’s classic look and comfortable handling.
ZOOMING OUT
The popularity of the Hi-Power design is demonstrated by Springfield Armory’s ongoing expansion of the SA-35 lineup. The new 4” model provides the ideal balance of size and capacity for concealed carry. This is a stylish yet practical interpretation of the classic design.
