I really like 1911s. I might not be an expert or aficionado, but I definitely appreciate them. Among the many brands and manufacturers out there, Springfield Armory is a name most people recognize. They’ve been building 1911s since the mid-1970s and, over that time, have offered a wide range of models, each with its own features.
One of my favorites is the Garrison line, which gives shooters a more traditional 1911 look. Within that lineup, Springfield has now expanded to include the all-new Garrison Target, chambered in .45 ACP or 9mm.

FEATURES
Springfield Armory expands its classic 1911 lineup with the introduction of the 1911 Garrison Target in .45 ACP and 9mm, pairing traditional styling with purpose-built accuracy upgrades. Built on hot salt-blued carbon-steel slides and frames with forged-steel construction throughout, the pistols maintain an heirloom-quality foundation while integrating modern, competition-focused enhancements.
Central to the update is a robust steel, fully adjustable rear sight with complete windage and elevation control. It features a black, serrated rear face to reduce glare and is paired with a high‑visibility white‑dot front sight for a clean, consistent sight picture.
A 5″ forged stainless steel match-grade barrel anchors the platform, supporting precise downrange performance. Thin-line wood grips with checkering provide a secure, refined hold without excess bulk. The .45 ACP model ships with a 7+1 capacity blued steel magazine, while the 9mm variant uses a stainless steel magazine with 9+1 capacity.
ZOOMING OUT
With an MSRP of $899, the Garrison Target combines forged durability with practical accuracy enhancements in a familiar 1911 profile. It preserves the classic look and feel of this venerable platform while adding a target-style sight to elevate performance.
