Outside of loading your vehicle and driving to the range, dry-fire practice is the most effective form of firearms training you can do. The best part— you can do it from your home (in your underwear if you’d like, but please don’t post that online).
In my experience, MANTIS makes the best, most practical dry-fire gear on the market. Their products provide real-time feedback and help make you a better shooter.
Recently, MANTIS released the Pink Rhino Pro series of Laser Training Cartridges to offer an affordable training solution for Cowboy Action Shooters. Let’s see what this is all about.
SPECS
Designed for Cowboy Action Shooting practice and other dry-fire sessions where cycling and chamber fit matter. The best part is it works with Mantis Laser Academy and most visible-laser target systems or simulators.
The standard specs are as follows:
- Model(s): Laser Training Cartridge—Pink Rhino Pro
- Use: Dry Fire Training
- Calibers: 12 Gauge, 38 SPL/357 Mag
- Compatibility: Mantis Laser Academy
- Battery: LR44 (12 Gauge), 3 LR626 (38 SPL/357 Mag)
- MSRP: $44.97

FEATURES
The Pink Rhino Pro Laser Training Cartridge enhances dry-fire practice by providing immediate visual feedback with each trigger press. It emits a bright red Class 3A laser that works with Mantis Laser Academy and most visible-laser target systems. It is available in 38 Special/357 Magnum and 12 Gauge.
Unlike the standard model, the Pro version uses a fixed 30-millisecond laser pulse instead of a constant-on beam, delivering a cleaner shot signal for compatible training software and preventing the laser from remaining illuminated after pulling the trigger.
The partially chamfered rim enhances compatibility with revolvers and lever-action firearms, making it especially suitable for Cowboy Action Shooting practice and other dry-fire drills where reliable chamber fit and cycling are essential.
Each cartridge comes with the required batteries installed and is built in the USA, allowing shooters to easily incorporate structured, feedback-driven practice into their training routine without firing a live round.
ZOOMING OUT
The Pink Rhino Pro fills a gap and improves capabilities for those who participate in Cowboy Action shooting. This is a fast-paced shooting sport, so training is key to success. Make sure to add dry-fire practice to your routine.
