Springfield Armory announced the SA-35 4″ Polished Blued on October 6, 2026. The 9mm has a 4-inch barrel, checkered walnut grips, and a 15-round magazine for an MSRP of $799.

This is a controversial and unpopular opinion: the Hi-Power is my favorite of John M. Browning’s pistol designs. I know, given the existence of the 1911, that’s heresy.
But last time I checked, this is a free country, and I’m allowed to have my own opinion. I just love the Hi-Power’s clean lines and elegant design.
And yes, I’m aware of the pistol’s history. Browning passed in 1926, before the pistol’s completion. His Fabrique Nationale colleague, Dieudonné Saive, finished the design before it went into production in 1935.
More than 90 years later, it’s still a popular pistol. Proof: companies are resurrecting the classic pistol and offering brand-new production guns. That includes Springfield Armory, which stunned enthusiasts in October 2021 with the SA-35.
Since its initial release, Springfield has continued to expand the line. The latest is the SA-35 4” polished blue, for when you want to carry a Hi-Power-style pistol daily but look classy doing it.

SA-35 4″ Polished Blue FEATURES
The 4-inch SA-35 now comes with polished bluing on its carbon steel frame and slide, giving the classic P-35-inspired design a deep, lustrous appearance. Walnut grip panels add natural grain and warmth, while finely cut checkering provides a secure grip.

Improved ergonomics and controls complement the factory-tuned trigger. The SA-35 also features a modernized Tactical Rack rear sight and a white-dot front sight, an improved feed ramp for reliable function with modern defensive ammunition. The pistol ships with a flush-fit 15-round magazine.
Made in the U.S.A., the 4″ model combines the SA-35’s traditional wood-and-steel character with a more compact package suited for everyday carry.
All in all, it’s a well-thought-out update of a classic design. The SA-35 maintains the look and soul of Browning’s original.
ZOOMING OUT
I am a big fan of this pistol. I have experience with the standard 4-inch SA-35, but I much prefer the polished blue finish. It elevates the SA-35 from utilitarian to classy.
My only qualm—in 2026, a pistol should ship with at least two magazines. SA-35s ship with only one—and it’s not a common magazine you’ll find at every gun shop.
