Beretta 92XI Squalo: Power, Precision, Excellence

CADRE Dispatch

Earlier this year, Beretta launched the 92XI SAO — the single-action-only variant of the Model 92, with an ambidextrous frame-mounted safety selector, a thinner Vertec-style frame, and optic mounting plates. The gun answered the demand for ambidextrous functionality and superior ergonomics in the 92 family, but Beretta didn’t stop there.

Now they’ve released the 92XI Squalo, and they’re calling it “the first 92XI true tactical race gun.”

The Beretta 92XI Squalo is ready for the range or competition, right out of the box. The gun ships with three Mec-Gar 18 + 4 round magazines.

Beretta 92XI Squalo Features

Built on the all-steel 92X platform, the 92XI Squalo has some standout features. Here’s a quick look.

Action

Building on the base 92X series, the 92XI Squalo has the X-treme S single action only and flat-faced trigger for more consistent engagement, as well as DLC-coated trigger components for a smoother action. The lightweight skeletonized hammer allows for a crisp trigger pull with the option to go cocked and locked.

Frame

The Squalo features a flared magwell, exclusive Hogue grips, and a Picatinny rail forward of the trigger guard that is ready for a weapon-light.

The full-size frame of the Beretta 92XI Squalo has an installed Toni System flared magwell, which allows for fast reloads and fits within USPSA rules and regulations.

The “Squalo” grips on this gun are perhaps the most visually suggestive of the shark theme. Hogue designed them exclusively for Beretta, with a unidirectional aggressive texture for a secure hold on the pistol.

Controls

Like the 92XI SAO, the Squalo has an ambidextrous frame-mounted safety lever, so the gun can be carried cocked and locked. Other controls include an adjustable and extended magazine release, extended takedown lever, and right-hand-only slide release.

Sights

The Beretta 92XI Squalo has an orange fiber optic front sight that offers superior sight acquisition, and the option for MRDS optics mounting makes this a high-performing, reliable choice for competition,
