I am an HK fanboy. I’m not afraid to admit it. However, I understand that HK isn’t perfect, and no firearms manufacturer is. I’ve always felt HK was lacking when it came to concealed carry options.
Of course, there are SK variants of several of their popular models, including the VP9. But these were large guns shortened and modified, and ergonomically, they never felt like dedicated carry guns.
When HK released the CC9 a few years back, it was a step in the right direction—a ground-up design for the CCW market. However, it faced an uphill battle entering a space already crowded by heavy hitters like Sig Sauer, Springfield, Glock, and Smith & Wesson.
Now, HK is stepping back into the ring, this time with the all-new VP9CC, and I think they’ve hit a home run with it.

FEATURES
The Heckler & Koch VP9CC features the well-known ergonomics and engineering of the VP9, but is designed as a purpose-built concealed-carry pistol. It combines compact size with features usually found on larger duty handguns.
Made at HK’s Oberndorf factory and imported by HK-USA, the pistol is built to meet or exceed NATO AC/225 standards. It also has HK’s cold-hammer-forged, cannon-grade steel barrel and the same advanced coating used on the company’s full-size German-made pistols.
Capacity options include 10+1 and 12+1 magazines, while six interchangeable backstraps—Small, Medium, Large, and extended versions of each—enable shooters to customize the grip for a perfect fit.

The striker-fired trigger breaks at about 5 pounds and offers a crisp reset, paired with an improved grip texture featuring smoother sidewalls for comfortable carry and aggressive front and rear texturing for better control.
The VP9CC is optics-ready with a proprietary deep slide cut that reduces optic mounting height by 40 percent, allowing true co-witness with a tritium front and serrated black rear sight.
The platform also features fully ambidextrous controls, including HK’s paddle-style magazine release, slide catch and release, and signature charging supports, along with a Picatinny rail, loaded chamber indicator, tool-free disassembly, and multiple internal safety features.
ZOOMING OUT
The VP9CC is a feature-rich pistol built for concealed carry. I like that it maintains the footprint of the VP9 and includes features like the paddle mag release and customizable grip. I enjoy shooting my VP9 Match, and now I might finally add an HK to my carry rotation.
