It’s safe to say that Holosun is a leading brand in pistol-mounted red dot sights. Their catalog is extensive, and they are always innovating. Every year, they make a splash at SHOT Show. It’s no different this year. The latest release from Holosun is an upgrade to two of their most popular models: the 407C-X3 and 507C-X3.
SPECS
These are third-generation models of the existing platform, with improvements focused on modernized housing, better light-sensing behavior, and improved forward-facing photodiode placement designed to keep each optic responsive as lighting conditions shift. (Now that’s a fancy word. According to the internet, a photodiode is a semiconductor that converts light into an electrical current or voltage. Neat.)
The standard specs are as follows:
- Model(s): 407C-X3 and 507C-X3
- Magnification: 1x
- Footprint: RMR
- Dot Size: 2 MOA Dot (407), 2 MOA Dot, 32 MOA Circle, or a combination of both (507)
- Dot Color: Red
- Battery Type: CR1632
- Battery Run Time: 50,000
- MSRP: N/A

FEATURES
The 507C-X3 maintains Holosun’s Multi-Reticle System, allowing users to switch between a 2 MOA dot, a 32 MOA circle, or the combined circle-dot to balance precision, speed, and visibility under recoil. The 407C-X3 simplifies this choice to a sharp 2 MOA dot, appealing to shooters who prefer a clean, uncluttered sight picture.
Both optics feature improved lens geometry and a refined window presentation centered around the familiar 0.91 × 0.67-inch window. Housings machined from 7075-T6 aluminum withstand slide cycling and environmental exposure, while the RMR-style footprint makes mounting easy.
A side-loading CR1632 battery provides up to 50,000 hours of runtime, enhanced by Solar Failsafe, Shake Awake, reticle memory, and a forward-facing photodiode that automatically adjusts brightness based on lighting conditions. All-in-all, solid upgrades to an already proven platform.
ZOOMING OUT
It’s always a good thing to see manufacturers upgrading and improving fan favorites. And that’s the case with the 407C-X3 and 507C-X3. These aren’t new models, built from the ground up, but rather improved versions of existing options. They retain the familiarity and reliability that made the series popular, while adding subtle yet meaningful updates that boost daily usability, optical consistency, and shooter confidence across various environments.
More information will be available after SHOT SHOW.
