RUGER UPDATES THE 10/22 FOR 2026: CADRE NEWS

Cory Ross

If you are a firearms enthusiast and collector of arms and don’t have a Ruger 10/22, I won’t believe any of your claims. In production since 1964, over 10 million have been produced. So, it’s not like you haven’t had an opportunity.

But, if you have waited, or are buying your second, third (or fourth) 10/22, Ruger has updated the features of all its models. Act accordingly.

SPECS

Ruger has upgraded the 10/22 rifle line based on extensive consumer feedback, adding features that were previously exclusive to specific configurations. These enhancements aim to provide even better performance.

This initial set of models adds the BX-Trigger, a lightweight stock, a match bolt release, and a receiver with a rear cleaning port. The first wave includes four models. The specs are as follows:

  • Model(s): 32000, 32002, 32004, 32006
  • Caliber: 22 LR
  • Capacity: 10
  • Sights: Adjustable rear, gold-bead front
  • Optic Ready: Yes, ships with scope rail
  • Threaded: 32000 & 32004, 1/2×28
  • Barrel Length: 16.40″, 185.0″, 16.4″, 18.5″
  • Weight: 4 lbs., 4.2 lbs., 4 lbs., 4.2 lbs.

FEATURES

The BX-Trigger is a nice upgrade over the factory original. It has a crisp 2.5- to 3-pound trigger pull, minimal overtravel, and a positive reset. The lightweight stock feels purposeful (and better over the old chintzy plastic stock), with M-LOK slots at the 6 o’clock position and textured panels on the pistol grip and forend.

The match bolt is a nice, thoughtful choice, enabling easy manipulation of the bolt with a quick pull and release of the cocking handle. Ruger added a rear cleaning port that allows access to the barrel from behind, making cleaning easier after long days when both performance and preparation are essential (trust me, this is a massive improvement).

Zooming Out

Looking at the bigger picture, the 10/22 remains the go-to rimfire. It has a long history of over 60 years and is everywhere. Thanks to its popularity, there’s a vast and impressive aftermarket support.

The best part is that Ruger listens to its customers. Whether it’s your first or your fourth (or more—no judgement), this redesigned lineup offers the familiar reliability with modern upgrades that make another visit to the store worth it. If you haven’t already, be sure to add a 10/22 to your collection.
