TALO M&P Performance Center with Compensator: CADRE NEWS

Cory Ross

The Smith & Wesson M&P is one of the most popular striker-fired pistols today, and for good reason. Big Blue regularly updates the series to keep up with industry trends.

The latest release is a collaboration with TALO, a major firearms distributor. This partnership created the Performance Center M&P Metal in PVD Gold or a Polymer model in Copper, both fitted with a Strike Industries compensator.

FEATURES

The Smith & Wesson Performance Center M&P9 M2.0 lineup expands with new polymer-frame and metal-frame versions designed to improve control, ergonomics, and shooting performance.

Both pistols feature a Strike Industries threaded compensator that uses escaping gases to reduce muzzle rise and felt recoil, helping shooters stay on target and shoot faster follow-up shots.

The system is complemented by the ClearSight Cut, a design that directs gases away from the optic to keep a clear sight picture during firing. Each model is built around a 4.87-inch, 1:10 twist, stainless-steel, spiral-fluted, threaded barrel—finished in copper PVD on the polymer version and gold PVD on the metal version—and paired with an optic-ready stainless-steel slide with lightning cuts and an Armornite finish.

A flat-face trigger with PC-tuned action promotes consistent finger placement and repeatable accuracy, while the 18-degree grip angle and four interchangeable palmswell inserts provide a customized fit. The pistols come with a blacked-out rear sight and a night sight front and include two 17-round and two 23-round magazines.

ZOOMING OUT

It’s great to see Smith & Wesson continue offering innovative options for the M&P series. The newest model combines a unique look with a strong feature set that matches current trends.

Personally, I like the appearance of the Gold PVD finish with an aluminum frame. Paired with the Strike Industries compensator, this will be one of the flattest-shooting striker-fired pistols on the market.
