Pistol caliber carbines have been growing in popularity for several years. The platform offers multiple attractive benefits, from the convenience and affordability of pistol-caliber ammo to performance and reliability. Unfortunately, shooters who live in restricted states have fewer PCC options available to them. In response, several manufacturers are stepping up to meet consumer demand in restricted states, like California, with options that satisfy legal requirements. The latest example from Springfield is the new California-compliant SAINT Victor 9mm carbine.
To comply with California restrictions, Springfield swapped out a few features from the original SAINT Victor. Specifically, the standard telescoping carbine stock, standard pistol grip, and standard capacity magazine have been replaced with a Magpul fixed stock, a Strike Industries California-compliant pistol grip, and a Colt-pattern steel 10-round magazine.
Features
The California-compliant SAINT Victor 9mm carbine features forged 7075-T6 aluminum dedicated 9mm upper and lower receivers. Chambered for 9mm, the carbine employs a direct blowback system of operation instead of the typical AR-15 direct gas impingement operating system. The carbine’s Melonite-coated 16” barrel employs a SA Muzzle Drum, recessed under the carbine’s free-floated, full-length handguard. For the addition of optics, the handguard features ample M-LOK slots. Each SAINT ships from the factory with spring-loaded backup iron sights.
