Over the last few years, Taurus USA has launched several new groundbreaking designs and went on to update their largely unchanged staple items like the Taurus 850 and 856. New for 2025 is the new and improved version of the famous G2C: the Taurus GX2.
Like the G2C, the new Taurus GX2 is a compact polymer-framed striker-fired handgun with a 13-round magazine capacity and a similar footprint. But the GX2 has notable ergonomic improvements over the original that have been thoroughly vetted over thousands of rounds at the famous Gunsite Academy.
Taurus GX2 Features
Unlike the original, the GX2 is a single-action striker action pistol, but it retains a bladed safety, left-sided slide release, and enlarged manual thumb safety. The magazine release is more pronounced and is now reversible. The original takedown tabs have been replaced by a more tactile lever.
The GX2 has a trimmed beavertail for a high purchase and smart stippling on the front strap, back strap, and grip panels, as well as along the finger rests. The frame comes complete with a MIL-STD-1913 Accessory rail. The slide features forward and rearward cocking serrations and a pair of steel white dot sights.
This new offering from Taurus is available with a black nitride-finished carbon steel slide or a matte stainless-steel slide.
The new Taurus GX2 is not optics-ready and can best be expressed as an upsized version of the GX4. This worthy candidate for home defense or concealed carry has a friendly MSRP that begins at $309.99.
