Bill Wilson of Wilson Combat has been perfecting rifle and handgun designs for carry and competition for decades, but his best-known work is with the Model 1911 platform.
Wilson arrived at the sweet spot in 1977, and his 1911 handguns have continuously met that standard. The Wilson Combat Division 77 Project 1 1911 commemorates nearly a half-century of speed, accuracy, and excellence.
Features
The Wilson Combat Division 77 Project 1 is built from the ground up for speed and repeatable accuracy. It is an 18-shot 9mm high compact pistol with an aluminum frame, a full-sized slide, and a fluted 5-inch bull barrel. The frame features a full Picatinny rail and a flat-faced trigger with an adjustable 3.5-4.5 pound trigger weight.
The frame has a copper PVD-coated slide release and ambidextrous extended thumb safety. The same PVD coating is applied to the Battle Proof magazine release and barrel. The frame itself is Black Armor-Tuff finished and wears black G10 TRAK Starburst grips with black Wilson Combat medallions.
The slide wears unique Project 1 cocking serrations on the stainless-steel slide. Its matching Armor-Tuff finish is offset by the Copper PVD finished external extractor and barrel. The barrel and slide feature a single large port for minimal muzzle rise. The iron sight consists of a red fiber optic front sight and a blacked high-profile steel rear notch that rides on the optic cover plate.
The cover plate is set back for easy mounting of large and small red dot optics using a proprietary pin system to alter the footprint of the slide from RMR to RMSc to DeltaPoint Pro. This is done to dispense with the need for an optics plate.
The Wilson Combat Division 77 Project 1 Pistol packs in a hard case with three 18-round magazines. This limited-edition handgun starts at $3,995. The first 100 units will come with an included commemorative box and challenge coin. See the select list of dealers offering the Project 1 for up-to-date details on availability and pricing.
