I don’t know of a more well-regarded pistol red dot than the Trijicon RMR series. The RMR and its use in the Roland Special paved the way for modern red-dot use on pistols. The RMR HD continues that legacy and is the pinnacle of the platform.
While it’s been out for a few years, Trijicon has expanded the line with a new color. As gun folks, there’s nothing we like more than color-matching our guns and optics. We are the ultimate accessorizers (I blame it on growing up with G.I. Joe action figures).
So now, Trijicon has introduced the RMR HD in Coyote Brown. Let’s check it out.

FEATURES
Trijicon expands its RMR HD reflex sight lineup with a new Coyote Brown anodized finish, adding another option to its duty-grade optic platform.
Both models offer a 55 MOA segmented circle with a center dot and the dot alone. The center dot is 1.0 MOA or 3.25 MOA, depending on the model.

An advanced forward-looking light sensor reads the light at the target, not just at the shooter, and adjusts reticle brightness to match, including when weapon-mounted lights are in use. Nine manual brightness settings and larger adjustment buttons provide additional control. A top-loading CR2032 battery compartment lets you change the battery without removing the optic or disturbing zero (unlike the original RMR).
Constructed from forged 7075-T6 aluminum, the RMR HD features Trijicon’s patented impact-resistant housing and is waterproof to 66 feet. It retains the original RMR mounting footprint and Trijicon designed it to fit many existing optics-ready duty holsters.
ZOOMING OUT
The RMR HD is a worthy companion to any duty or competition handgun. The RMR is proven in nearly every arena.
But with the additional Coyote Brown colorway, people have more options. And as I always say, more options are always good.
If it’s going on a duty gun, it needs a duty holster made for an optic. Safariland’s optic-ready holsters are built for red dot pistols, so check the fit for your pistol and optic before you order.

Quick Answers on the Trijicon RMR HD
The RMR HD has a top-loading battery, so you can change it without removing the optic. It also has a larger tempered-glass window, a forward-facing light sensor, a 55 MOA circle-dot reticle you can switch to dot-only, and larger buttons. It uses the same RMR footprint.
Trijicon’s earth-tone finish for the RMR HD is Coyote Brown, offered with a 1.0 MOA or a 3.25 MOA center dot.
The same footprint as the original RMR, so it mounts on RMR-cut slides and plates.
Trijicon rates the CR2032 at over three years of continuous use at brightness setting 5, dot only.
Both Coyote Brown models carry a retail price of $1,066.
