Liberator IV™ Single Comm Headset

single comm

Single comm headset systems provide reliable transmit and receive audio with one device, most often a portable radio. Single-device traffic comes in stereo for maximum clarity. These systems offer operational modes for all high noise situations and protect hearing from impulse/gunfire noise and constant, high-decibel background noise.

A single comm headset provides the same high noise protection as a headset system, but will require a Push-to-Talk (PTT) assembly to integrate with a device or portable radio. Single comm headsets combine with single comm PTTs: Alpha MRK2 PTT and Delta Tactical PTT. The Liberator IV™ is a single comm (one radio) headset.

PTT options

The single comm Alpha Push-to-Talk (APTT) is a complete line of submersible, compact push-to-talk assemblies that can be integrated with a variety of systems. The APTT comes standard with gas mask connectivity. The APTT is a smaller, subcompact push-to-talk (PTT) that offers various options such as cell phone connectivity, volume control, and remote PTT functionality. The APTT is an extremely durable PTT assembly manufactured utilizing a proprietary, sealed, reinforced single molded process for long lasting use. The APTT is available with 18” radio interface cable and 2-pin gas mask receptacle. The Alpha MRK2 PTT is a modernized U94 PTT.

The Delta Tactical PTT is a popular, single comm PTT which offers clear audio transmission in high noise environments. This PTT is a round, ambidextrous PTT, and it’s also known as the Hockey Puck PTT. The Delta Tactical PTT seamlessly integrates into the Liberator IV™ headset system, allowing operators to use portable radio systems or vehicle/aircraft communication systems. A robust, simple to use assembly, the Delta Tactical PTT has a recessed button so operators can lay prone without keying the radio. It also features a receptacle for a remote PTT switch. Assemblies can be retrofitted, replaced, or updated for existing comms products, including headsets and ear pieces.

ADDITIONAL FEATURES

GAS MASK INPUT & CABLES
The base model of the Alpha PTT comes standard with a gas mask input capability. If you have the Avon gas mask you can plug it into the Alpha PTT. The cable for the Alpha PTT needs to be purchased separately.

The base model of the Delta PTT does not come standard with a gas mask input. However, a gas mask input is available as an upgrade. If the Delta PTT upgrade is chosen, a cable is included in the package.

GAS MASK ADAPTER
The Gas Mask Adapter is an economical integration solution that connects easily to existing communications systems. The adapter can be left connected to the end user’s gas mask until needed. No modification to existing gas mask or communications accessories are required.

TWO-WIRE KIT FOR GASK MASK
The two wire kit is a standalone accessory allowing officers to wear a two-wire earpiece and have the ability to easily and clearly communicate through a gas mask. Simple installation of the gas mask cable permits information to be transmitted through the microphone on an Avon gas mask. This kit provides a quick transition from radio communications to seamless gas mask communications which allows the officer to transmit and listen with the same process as without the gas mask. The kit is available for a variety of radios and in left and right configurations.

The Alpha PTT and Delta PTT offer a volume control knob as an upgrade option. This option allows the user to place a portable radio on the back or hip instead of the chest, and control volume with the PTT. By moving the radio to a different location, it opens up more room on the chest to place mag pouches or a trauma kit. In poor weather, it’s beneficial to have only the volume control exposed outside a rain coat, and to have the radio tucked away inside, where it’s protected from the elements.

This selection is only available on the Alpha PTT, and the option provides a hardwired cellphone cable.

Safariland® Liberator™ V Redline™ Headset

dual comm

A dual comm system allows simultaneous input from two devices. Dual-device comms are directed to the left or right earcup with no bleed-over. The Liberator V is a dual comm (two devices) headset.

A dual comm system will have the option to select the radio models for radio 1 and radio 2 connections. Radio 1 is the primary channel and on the operator’s right side (red button). Radio 2 is the secondary channel and on the operator’s left side (black button). Before purchase, users need to make a decision as to the specific radio they wish to use as either Radio 1 or Radio 2.

There are two options when you choose the dual comm PTT system: Basic and Lite. The Basic PTT has inline disconnects allowing you to change the lower cables, whereas the Lite has cables hardwired to the PTT. The advantage of the Basic solution is that it allows for flexibility, to expand depending on future requirements—such as upgrading to another radio while keeping the original, and changing up the architecture of accessories. The Basic configuration also enables the operator to use the PTT for ICS (Inter Comms System) solutions, various radio solutions, cell phone or other devices. The Lite PTT is better suited for teams who know they will not require additional device connectivity in the future and prefer a more cost-effective solution.

PTT Options

Designed for entry level dual communication channel users, the Lite Dual Comm PTT features an R.4 PTT and limited additional cables to plug into a variety of radio models.

The Basic (Universal) PTT  has the capability to plug into multiple devices. It comes with 2 radio cables and is great for multi-jurisdictional and multi-radio applications to reduce channel changing. In addition, cell phone solution and Bluetooth module upgrades are available.

The PTT allows phone activation with hands-free calling. The R.A.C.E. feature automatically detects single transmission receiving in stereo (both earcups) until secondary transmission is perceived which separates the transmissions to mono.

Textured buttons provide tactile indicators. Since the Universal PTT is MIL and LE aircraft ICS systems supported, it allows the user to stay on tactical comms while being plugged into ICS.

The Basic PTT is ideal for situations requiring dual communications such as multi-jurisdictional, SWAT and recon as well as for crowd control and shooting range settings requiring access to portable PA systems.

ADDITIONAL Features

Radio audio channel enhancement (R.A.C.E.) technology provides stereo audio to the user when either radio 1 or 2 is in use. When two radios are in use at the same time, the audio traffic is directed to the left or right earcups. When more than one radio is being used, the audio feed remains secure, so that there is no bleed-through between the radios. Further, situational awareness and localization audio are separated from radio audio.

One of the advantages of the technology is that it improves audio quality for individuals with hearing loss in one ear. The R.A.C.E. modification is available on all new dual comm PTT’s, or can be retrofit to previously purchased PTT’s. The feature is available for dual comm systems only.

The base model of the Basic PTT does not come standard with a gas mask input. However, a gas mask input is available as an upgrade. If the Basic PTT upgrade is chosen, a cable is included in the package.

GAS MASK ADAPTER – Basic PTT Only
The Gas Mask Adapter is an economical integration solution that connects easily to existing communications systems.

Cell phones have become a much more prevalent tool in the tactical communication network due to the number of functions available on these devices. Cell phones can be used for obtaining significant pieces of information that cannot be relayed over a portable radio. In addition, mission strategies are frequently approved or declined with headquarters or the command post. Interviews, briefs and debriefs are often communicated through these devices as well.

The Cell Phone Attachment provides a hardwired cellphone cable as the standard.

For a wireless solution, the Wireless Module for the Basic PTT can be paired with the Liberator III or V tactical headset using the R.4 dual communications push-to-talk (PTT) audio accessory.

The Wireless Module provides great cell phone clarity, and the ability to efficiently utilize a cell phone without removing the phone from your pocket or pouch.

The proprietary wiring scheme of the Wireless Module, along with the patent pending R.A.C.E. feature, allows cell phones to work seamlessly with tactical communications, both encrypted and unencrypted. The wireless solution is only available with the Basic Dual PTT, not on the Lite PTT).

We strive to match the best product configuration to the specific end user’s application. However, some applications are unique and require a custom solution to satisfy a specific operational need and fill a void with reliable communications.

The headset configuration can be tailored for the optimum fit, comfort, and color palette to match individual needs. Multiple radios, devices, cable types and lengths, and Push-to-Talk forms can be selected
