Springfield Armory’s new 1911 Agency Optic System (AOS) pistols are a groundbreaking fusion of the classic 1911 platform with modern optics integration, available directly from the factory.
AOS Lineup: A Modern Take on Iconic Models
At launch, the 1911 AOS lineup includes the 1911 Emissary, 1911 Operator, and 1911 Ronin, each available in both 9mm and .45 ACP, and offered in 5” and 4.25” barrel configurations. Notably, the new 4.25” 1911 Operator AOS, featuring a lightweight aluminum frame and chambered in either .45 ACP or 9mm, marks a fresh addition to the Operator series.
“The 1911 is arguably the most respected and proven pistol design in history,” said Steve Kramer, Springfield Armory’s Vice President of Marketing. “With the 1911 AOS, Springfield Armory is honoring this legendary design while equipping it with the capability to accept a wide range of today’s most advanced optics.”
Modern Optics Meets Classic 1911 Craftsmanship
Developed in collaboration with Agency Arms, the AOS system utilizes a series of plates designed to accommodate a wide array of the industry’s most popular red dot sights, including those with RMR, Shield, Delta Point Pro, and Docter footprints. This flexibility allows shooters to customize their 1911 AOS pistols to suit their specific needs, ensuring optimal performance across various shooting scenarios.
Each 1911 AOS-compatible handgun ships with a cover plate featuring a rear sight that maintains the classic contour of the 1911’s slide. Machined from billet steel for durability and a precise fit, these cover plates and additional AOS optic plates are available through the Springfield Armory Store. Each AOS plate has an integral rear sight for proper optic height and a visible co-witness in nearly all configurations, enhancing precision and defensive capability.
To further enhance the value, purchasers of a 1911 AOS pistol can acquire an AOS optic plate of their choice for just $49 — a savings of $80.
