Previously available only as a full-sized handgun with a 4.5-inch barrel, Springfield is now rolling out the Echelon Compact 4.0C for improved concealed carry characteristics.
The Springfield Echelon Compact is a double-stack polymer-framed handgun that features a 4 inch hammer-forged barrel and a 15-round flush-fit capacity.
Like its full-size counterpart, the frame uses a Central Operating group that is serialized, allowing the user to freely change frame sizes to suit any application.
The frame has an ambidextrous magazine release and slide release for easy use by left-handed and right-handed shooters. Unlike other compact handguns, the Echelon Compact sports a full Picatinny rail for weaponlights.
The melanite-coated slide comes with forward and rearward cocking serrations and a choice of iron sights: a tritium front sight and a flat-racking U-Dot rear or tritium three-dots.
“The full-size Echelon 4.5F was engineered from the ground up to be today’s most advanced striker-fired pistol,” said Steve Kramer, Springfield Armory’s Vice President of Marketing. “The new Echelon 4.0C takes everything that made the original so popular, and sizes it down to offer users an exceptional and concealable duty-grade EDC pistol.”
In addition to the choice of iron sights, the Echelon Compact is also available with a threaded barrel, which takes 1/2×28 TPI accessories.
No matter what model you choose, the Echelon Compact is equipped with Variably Interface system that allows shooters to mount most optics to the slide without the need for an adapter plate.
The new Springfield Echelon Compact in 9mm Luger ships in a hard case with two 15-shot magazines at a starting MSRP of $679.
