The Alien Remus from Laugo Arms

CADRE Dispatch

CZ may be the best-known gunmaker in the Czech Republic, but Laugo Arms stands out for its bold design choices to develop a pistol with the best possible ergonomics. Their Alien lineup features a fixed barrel for enhanced mechanical accuracy and the industry’s lowest bore axis for negligible felt recoil.

The latest addition to the Alien lineup is the Alien Remus, which brings the lineup into the realm of optics-ready handguns. As with their previous designs, Laugo Arms takes the Remus to the next level by incorporating a non-reciprocating rail for seamless optic integration.

Features

Like the others in Laugo’s Alien lineup, the shooter experience is paramount with the new Alien Remus. The Remus has an unloaded weight of 29 ounces, which is comparable to compact double-stack polymer frame pistols like the Glock 19. The Remus squeaks past with a durable and trim black anodized aluminum frame and a scalloped steel slide.

The grip frame features G-10 Dragon grip panels and the knurled front strap and backstrap are removable and replaceable to customize your hold on the pistol. The frame comes complete with a flared magazine well, a squared-off trigger guard, and a universal Picatinny rail for a weapon light.

But most noticeable is the trim beavertail that places the hand high on the grip and directly behind the barrel, which sits low in the slide. This low bore axis is further facilitated with a recoil spring assembly that rides above the barrel, rather than below. This, along with the pistol’s gas-operated action, reduces felt recoil and muzzle rise, allowing fast follow up shots.

Other features include a reversible magazine release as well as an ambidextrous slide release and manual safety. In addition to the thumb safety, the Remus features a TiN gold trigger with a trigger safety for added redundancy.

Push to Rack System

The standout feature of the Alien Remus is its two push-to-rack rails, one with iron sights and one with an optics footprint. The rail houses the iron sights and an optics footprint for the included RMRcc, RMS, and ACRO aluminum optics plates. With the optic of your choice installed, the PTR rail is even easier to use, but you can switch between iron sights and an optic without the loss of zero.

Best of all, the rail acts like a nonreciprocating charging handle and does not move under recoil. Over high round counts, this keeps your optic zeroed as recoil can loosen the optic from its plate over time with conventional slide-operated handguns.

The new Alien Remus ships with two 15-round magazines, three optic plates, medium and large back and front straps, a cleaning kit, and the Torx and Hex keys needed for modifying the grip and mounting an optic. This new package from Laugo Arms is now available for order. Check your favorite local and online outlets for up-to-date pricing and availability.
