Ruger RxM: Full-Size Magpul Grip is Finally Here

Magpul has expanded its line of grip modules for the RXM handgun, developed in partnership with Ruger. The Ruger x Magpul (RxM) was introduced just about a year ago, and it’s essentially a G19-alike that uses a Fire Control Insert (FCI) for modularity.

You just swap it between Enhanced Handgun Grips (EHG) to meet your needs. That might be two different pistol setups of the same size (different optics or whatever), or – now that they’re providing other sizes of EHG – a way for you to switch between compact, full-size, and very soon, sub-compact.

Do not mistake this release for the availability of a new, complete handgun. It’s not. It’s a new platform you can use with the existing RxM’s Fire Control Insert (FCI).

The full size EHG on a Ruger RXM has converted this FCI frame to a full-size pistol vs the compact version that preceded it. — The full-sized Magpul RXM EHG gives you something approximating a G19x or G45. You can also swap in a G17 slide if that’s your preference.

There are a number of advantages to this, including the provision of a pistol platform more suited to duty use or competition shooting. And as Magpul said in their release, this modularity allows you to swap back quickly: “…when it’s time to conceal the gun again, just swap it back to the original grip it came with from Ruger.”

The whole goal here is modularity, as you can see in Pike’s comparison of the first RxM, the Springfield Echelon, and the P320.

The other features that made the RXM so popular remained; we kept the TSP texture and the undercut trigger guard to help with comfort and recoil mitigation.

We also retained the universal rail and Gen3 compatibility so all your accessories are good to go on the new frame.

The same goes for magazine compatibility with GL9® PMAGs and OEM mags (barring a few of the shorter, lower capacity mags), which are easily and quickly changed thanks to the built-in flared magwell.

Of course, it’s made to same durable standards you’ve come to expect of our polymer products, and each grip is made in the USA.
